We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Lead Data Platform Engineer to architect implement, and lead the delivery of a modern, self-service data platform, guided by the Data Mesh paradigm. This role is critical to enabling domain teams to build, deploy, and manage high-quality data products independently, enabling decentralized data ownership, and ensuring scalability, governance, and efficiency across the data ecosystem. You will serve as the technical lead, translator of needs, and strategic planner—bridging the gap between data product teams’ pain points and platform capabilities. This role requires deep technical expertise in DevSecOps practices, Azure Cloud, Databricks, and modern data engineering practices. Proven experience in building such platforms is essential.
Responsibilities
- Architect and deliver a self‑service, Data Mesh–guided data platform end‑to‑end (ingest, processing, quality, lineage, catalog, security, observability).
- Define and execute a phased rollout (MVP → core services → domain onboarding) and manage the platform backlog.
- Translate domain needs into reusable patterns, templates and onboarding automation.
- Implement governance, RBAC and data protection; lead architecture reviews and hands‑on engineering.
- Mentor platform engineers and enable domain teams to operate independently.
Technical skillset
- Azure Cloud (ADLS Gen2, Data Factory, Synapse, Event Hubs, CosmosDB, Azure ML)
- Databricks Lakehouse (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, DBX, jobs/notebooks, Spark optimizations)
- Data Mesh / data-as-a-product (domain ownership, data contracts, versioning, lineage)
- Terraform (Infrastructure as Code for reproducible platform provisioning)
- Python, SQL, Spark (hands‑on data processing and optimization)
- CI/CD (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions for data pipelines)
- Security / RBAC (Unity Catalog policies, encryption, access controls)
- Metadata & governance (Azure Purview, Collibra) and observability/data quality tools (Monte Carlo, Great Expectations, Datadog)

- dbt,
- Airflow/orchestration,
- regulated/enterprise experience.
