The opportunity

We are looking for an Operational Technology (OT) Network Engineer to work with utilities client in the United Kingdom on long-term programmes to migrate remote sites and top-end telemetry and control systems to next-generation technology!

The Network Engineer will be handling, at a technical level, all new customer Network transitions for new Atos customers that have current incumbent suppliers through to successful migration transition into Atos.

This role is to specify then deploy, configure, maintain and monitor all active network equipment in order to ensure smooth network operation. To fulfil this role the individual must be independent, motivated and able to work juggling between multiple projects.

The Operational Technology Engineer will collaborate and support directly the Project/Programme Manager with solution design for new implementations and to drive process improvement within the organization.

 

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Acquire a detailed understanding of the customer’s business needs, technologies, key applications and network and security infrastructure
  • Provide Network consultancy Account and Client as required.
  • Ensure that Networks & Security are taken into account in all new solutions
  • Provide Network technical input into Business Office proposals ensuring that the solution satisfies customers` requirements and is aligned with Atos standards along with accurate effort estimates for all new projects and incremental work.
  • Contribute to High Level Designs (HLD) to meet client project requirements in compliance with Atos CTO standards and strategy.
  • Provide technical assurance to the wider team throughout the Low-Level Design and Implementation project phases to ensure compliance with the HLD and Atos standards are maintained.
  • The role is based in the UK and candidates should be available for travel to client sites throughout Scotland and other Atos locations.

 

Skills we can’t do without:

  • Good knowledge in Data Networking
  • Good understanding of Network security solutions
  • Must hold or be able to undertake and gain Security Clearance to SC level
  • Demonstrable skills in providing technical design and architecture solutions specifically in Networks and Security
  • Professional and dynamic approach, demonstrates a clear passion for delivering world class IT services and solutions
  • Knowledge of telecommunications systems used for remote site connectivity and the legacy implementation of voiceband modems in the context of Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) and loggers which are common in the utilities industry
  • Radio technologies including scanning radio, LTE cellular, Narrowband, and satellite communications
  • Knowledge of protocols used in end-end serial communications for telemetry, command and control like MODBUS and DNP3
  • Knowledge of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, communications means (LoRaWAN, NB-IoT,…), cloud data repository and management systems including next generation protocols such as OPC(UA), MQTT and AMQP

 

Skills we’d like:

Current SC level Security Clearance or ability to gain.

 

Significant knowledge of other key technologies such as:

  • F5 Networks
  • Checkpoint Software Technologies
  • SDN
  • NFV
  • Cloud services such as Azure, AWS, or Google solution architecture experience or certificate
  • Juniper
  • CISCO
