Key Responsibilities 

 

  • Lead the discovery and assessment of the client's existing enterprise data warehouse landscape, developing a comprehensive understanding of current-state architecture, data models, integrations, operational processes, and technical dependencies. 

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, including CIOs, CTOs, Chief Data Officers, enterprise architects, security leaders, and business stakeholders, providing strategic guidance throughout the engagement. 

  • Define and own the target-state Azure data platform architecture, ensuring alignment with client standards for security, governance, resilience, performance, operational support, and compliance requirements. 

  • Assess and provide recommendations for the migration and modernisation of Oracle Data Warehouse environments, SAS 9.4 analytics and reporting platforms, Informatica PowerCenter ETL processes, and associated data services. 

  • Develop migration strategies, target-state architectures, transition plans, implementation roadmaps, and business case inputs to support investment decisions and long-term platform transformation objectives. 

  • Lead architecture governance, technical design reviews, migration planning, testing, cutover activities, and delivery oversight throughout the programme lifecycle. 

  • Identify technical, operational, security, and delivery risks associated with migration activities, defining mitigation plans, contingency approaches, and governance controls. 

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership to delivery teams, supporting the resolution of complex architecture, integration, data migration, and platform modernisation challenges. 

  • Produce executive-level presentations, architecture artefacts, and decision-support materials that clearly communicate benefits, risks, dependencies, costs, and trade-offs associated with proposed solutions. 

  • Support the establishment of operational support models, service management processes, and governance frameworks for long-term Azure platform operations. 

 

Skills we can’t do without 

 

  • Extensive experience leading enterprise-scale Data Warehouse Modernisation, Data Platform Transformation, and Cloud Migration programmes. 

  • Proven expertise in designing and delivering large-scale migrations from on-premises data warehouse environments to Microsoft Azure. 

  • Deep understanding of Oracle Data Warehouse platforms, architecture patterns, migration approaches, and associated operational considerations. 

  • Strong experience with Informatica PowerCenter, ETL modernisation strategies, and cloud-native data integration solutions. 

  • Experience assessing and migrating SAS 9.4 analytics, reporting, and data processing workloads. 

  • Strong Enterprise Data Architecture expertise, including architecture governance, migration planning, operating model design, and target-state architecture definition. 

  • Deep knowledge of Azure data services including Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL, Azure Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and related analytics services. 

  • Strong understanding of cloud security, governance, resilience, compliance, and operational support requirements for enterprise and regulated environments. 

  • Ability to engage credibly with executive stakeholders and provide strategic consulting across complex transformation programmes. 

  • Outstanding stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-focused recommendations. 

 

Skills we'd like 

 

  • Experience delivering data platform and cloud transformation programmes within UK Government, Public Sector, Defence, Healthcare, or other highly regulated environments. 

  • Experience working with NCSC Cloud Security Principles, government security guidance, and regulated industry standards. 

  • Knowledge of enterprise data governance, master data management, metadata management, and data quality frameworks. 

  • Experience building business cases, investment proposals, and transformation strategies for executive stakeholders. 

  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Data Engineer Associate, TOGAF, Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), or equivalent enterprise architecture qualifications. 

 

Additional Requirements 

 

  • Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain SC Clearance. 
  • Location: UK-based. Hybrid and remote working options are available, with occasional travel to client and Atos locations as required.
