We are seeking an experienced Senior SAP Basis Specialist to join our SAP Operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, support and continuous improvement of customers' SAP landscapes, ensuring high availability, performance, security and operational excellence across SAP environments.

The Senior SAP Basis Specialist acts as a key technical expert, supporting daily operations, driving infrastructure improvements and serving as a primary point of contact for customers and internal stakeholders.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

SAP Basis Administration & Operations

  • Provide expert-level administration and support for SAP Basis environments.
  • Perform SAP housekeeping activities and administration of scheduled jobs.
  • Maintain and optimize SAP system parameters to ensure stability and performance.
  • Manage and maintain SAP backup and restore strategies.
  • Add, configure, and remove SAP satellite systems within the landscape.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot existing RFC connections.
  • Monitor SAP systems and proactively identify potential issues.

 

Incident & Change Management

  • Investigate, analyze, and resolve incidents, service requests, events, and problems.
  • Implement standard and non-standard changes following change management procedures.
  • Perform root cause analysis and recommend preventive actions.
  • Ensure SLA compliance and high-quality service delivery.

 

System Maintenance & Upgrades

  • Execute SAP system refreshes and client copies.
  • Perform SAP Kernel upgrades and related maintenance activities.
  • Support patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management of SAP systems.
  • Contribute to performance tuning and system optimization initiatives.

 

Customer & Project Support

  • Act as the primary technical point of contact (SPOC) for customers.
  • Support small to medium-sized SAP infrastructure projects.
  • Participate in transition and transformation activities for new customers and SAP environments.
  • Collaborate with application teams, infrastructure teams and third-party vendors.

 

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures and system architecture records.
  • Identify automation and process improvement opportunities.
  • Share technical knowledge and mentor junior team members when required.

 

Required Skills & Experience

 

Technical Skills

  • Strong experience in SAP Basis Administration across multiple SAP landscapes.
  • Experience with SAP NetWeaver, SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA and related SAP technologies.
  • Expertise in:
    • SAP system installations and upgrades
    • Kernel upgrades
    • SAP system refreshes
    • Client copies
    • Backup and recovery procedures
    • RFC administration and troubleshooting
    • Transport management
    • Performance monitoring and tuning
  • Knowledge of high-availability and disaster recovery concepts.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems.
  • Understanding of database administration concepts (HANA, Oracle, SQL Server, ASE, or DB2).

 

Professional Experience

  • 5+ years of SAP Basis administration experience.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale SAP environments.
  • Proven experience in incident, problem and change management processes.
  • Customer-facing experience in managed services or outsourcing environments is highly desirable.
