Quality Assurance Engineer

About the Role:

We're looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer to own testing strategy and implementation across our full stack: React frontend, Python backend services, and Kubernetes-based infrastructure. You'll build and maintain test automation, define quality gates in our CI/CD pipelines, and champion engineering practices that prevent defects from reaching production.

What You'll Do:

Frontend Testing

• Design and implement end-to-end test suites for React applications using Playwright or Cypress
• Build component and integration tests with Jest and React Testing Library
• Establish visual regression testing and accessibility validation
• Work with frontend engineers to improve testability and coverage

Backend Testing

• Develop comprehensive test strategies for Python services using pytest
• Create integration tests for APIs, database interactions, and service dependencies
• Implement contract testing for microservice communication
• Build performance and load testing frameworks

Infrastructure & Pipeline Quality

• Define quality gates in ArgoCD deployment workflows
• Implement Terraform validation and testing practices
• Build Helm chart testing and Kubernetes manifest validation
• Design CI/CD pipeline stages that catch issues early
• Monitor test reliability and maintain healthy test infrastructure

Process & Culture

• Define and track quality metrics across teams
• Conduct test reviews and mentor engineers on testing practices
• Investigate production incidents and translate findings into preventive tests
• Continuously improve test execution speed and reliability

What We're Looking For:

Required

• 3+ years in QA engineering or software testing roles
• Strong Python and TypeScript/JavaScript proficiency
• Hands-on experience with pytest, Jest, and at least one E2E framework (Playwright, Cypress)
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and GitOps workflows
• Understanding of test design principles and the testing pyramid
• Ability to read and understand application code to design effective tests

Preferred

• Experience with ArgoCD, Terraform, or Helm chart testing
• Background in infrastructure or platform testing
• Exposure to contract testing tools (Pact) or API testing frameworks
• Knowledge of static analysis, code coverage tooling, and quality metrics
• Experience setting up test automation from scratch
