Data Warehouse Analyst

 

Data Warehouse Analysts collect, interpret, and transform data from various systems to support strategic business decisions. They design and document end-to-end technical specifications, translate business needs into data models, and collaborate closely with BI, engineering, and governance teams to ensure robust, scalable data solutions.

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Engage with stakeholders (requesters, consuming applications, technical teams) to clarify requirements, validate expected functionalities, and align on priorities and dependencies.
  • Analyze data from multiple sources, identifying trends, anomalies, inconsistencies, and ensuring data integrity.
  • Create detailed technical specifications (data contracts, source-to-target mappings) for Data Warehouse and ETL processes across multiple domains (Client, Product, Transactions).
  • Contribute to data mart design, analytics requirements, and reporting structures.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with business users and engineering teams to identify and mitigate risks and dependencies.
  • Produce comprehensive gap analysis documentation to highlight functional and technical discrepancies.
  • Develop and maintain technical requirements documentation for all data-related solutions.
  • Produce business requirement documents with technical mappings, document end-to-end workflows and system integration points, and define use cases with transformation logic.
  • Document ETL implementations and enhancements (source-to-target mappings, validation rules, change impact analysis).
  • Perform peer reviews and coach other team members.
  • Support preparation and validation of test scenarios.
  • Conduct impact analysis across all Data Warehouse layers.
  • Collaborate with data governance to define and configure metadata, data quality, and reference data components.
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to effort estimations.
  • Support data modelers with clarifications required for scalable design.
  • Contribute to defining, aligning, and maintaining analysis policies, tools, standards, artefacts, and process definitions.
  • Provide L3 support when required.

 

Technical Skills Required

  • Solid understanding of Data Warehouse architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of BI solution implementation lifecycle.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle SQL and writing complex analytical queries.
  • Familiarity with ETL processes and data pipeline structures.
  • Awareness of data quality frameworks and data governance standards.
  • Experience with data governance tools (Business Glossary, Data Quality, Reference Data Management).
  • Advanced knowledge of banking products, processes, and industry-specific data.

 

Key Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience as a DWH Analyst in complex projects, ideally within financial services.
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, IT, Computer Science, or related fields. Advanced certifications are a plus.
  • Proven experience in data analysis roles within banking environments.
  • Experience with project management tools (e.g., Jira) is a plus.
  • Experience working in metadata-driven environments.
  • Strong understanding of data management principles and processes.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel and MS Office for analysis and reporting.

 

Additional Technical Expertise

  • Proven experience preparing source-to-target mappings and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Mid-level experience building queries across various databases (Oracle, SQL Server, Databricks, Snowflake).
  • Strong working knowledge of data management tools and standards.

  • Strong understanding of data management concepts (Glossary, DQ, RDM, Lineage).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
