Data Governance Specialist

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Data Governance Framework & Standards

  • Define, align, maintain, and continuously evolve data governance policies, standards, process definitions, and ownership models.
  • Build and implement a comprehensive data governance framework, including data element hierarchization, configuration parameters, and detailed business use cases.
  • Ensure cross-domain alignment and consistency of all standards across data governance, self-service consumers, data modelers, technical architects, QA teams and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Facilitate organizational alignment by establishing the right policies, tools, and context.

 

Stakeholder Enablement & Support

  • Train and guide stakeholders to correctly apply data governance policies, procedures, and working guidelines.
  • Provide L3 support when required and act as an escalation point.
  • Chair Data Governance Forums, including Data Quality (DQ) Forum.

 

Data Quality, Metadata & Compliance

  • Monitor and report compliance with data standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage quality assurance initiatives to improve data reliability across the organization.
  • Identify and address data issues within business processes and systems.
  • Review, develop, and maintain business glossary entries, data dictionary definitions, and data quality rules.
  • Oversee alignment and governance of list-of-values and steering tables (RDM).
  • Ensure impact analysis and lineage metadata are maintained for all data management objects (Glossary, DQI, RDM, etc.).

 

Tools, Processes & Continuous Improvement

  • Collect business requirements for all data governance activities.
  • Recommend improvements to data management tools (Data Quality, Glossary, Lineage, RDM, Report Catalogue).
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across data management standards, policies, and monitoring processes.
  • Support enterprise-wide data projects and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Actively participate in agile ceremonies and accurately estimate activity durations.
  • Stay up to date on relevant technologies and contribute to tool evaluations and adoption.

 

Qualifications:

 

Experience

  • 2–3 years as a Data Governance Analyst in financial services projects.
  • 2–3 years of business experience and knowledge in the financial services industry.
  • Proven understanding of data management processes and principles.
  • Mid-level experience writing queries across different databases.
  • At least 2 years defining business terms and aligning business stakeholders or working as a Business Analyst.

 

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of banking processes and products.
  • Solid knowledge and hands-on experience in data management.
  • Good knowledge of data management concepts: Glossary, Data Quality, RDM, Lineage.
  • Experience with Ataccama (Glossary, DQ, RDM, Lineage) is a strong advantage.
  • Experience with multiple DB engines (Oracle, SQL Server, Databricks, Snowflake) is a plus.

  • Able to work independently, handle multiple tasks, and deliver in a fast-paced environment.

  • Passionate about continuous improvement, automation, and modernizing data management practices.
  • Experience working in Agile environments.
  • Fast learner, motivated to keep up with emerging technologies.

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

 

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other reporting tools.
  • Experience with Data Governance platforms (Glossary, DQ, RDM).
  • Entry/mid-level SQL experience across multiple databases.
  • Experience with Ataccama suite (Glossary, DQ, RDM, Lineage).
