Role Summary:

As an L3 AWS Cloud Operations Engineer at Atos’ Global Delivery Center in the Philippines, you will lead the maintenance and optimization of a global client’s Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure – supporting a major multinational hospitality enterprise. In this senior role, you will ensure high availability, security, and performance of mission-critical cloud systems. You will manage complex production operations (Level 3 support), integrate DevOps and ITIL best practices, and drive continuous improvements in automation, reliability, and cost efficiency. This position requires close collaboration with development and security teams to deliver robust AWS-managed services in a 24x7, ITIL-aligned environment.

Key Responsibilities:

•    Cloud Operations & Infrastructure Management: Manage and maintain AWS cloud environments to ensure high uptime, reliability, and performance in a multi-account enterprise setup. Oversee resource provisioning and scaling across AWS accounts using best practices and service control policies (e.g., AWS Organizations/Control Tower).
•    Provisioning & Deployment Automation: Provision, configure, and manage AWS resources (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, etc.) using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as AWS CloudFormation and Terraform for consistent, repeatable deployments.
•    Monitoring & Incident Management: Proactively monitor cloud services using AWS CloudWatch, AWS Config, CloudTrail, and other observability tools to detect issues early. Respond to incidents and service disruptions as L3 escalation, performing thorough root cause analysis (RCA) and driving timely incident resolution and problem management in line with ITIL practices.
•    Backup & Disaster Recovery: Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery (DR) strategies for critical systems using AWS native tools (e.g., AWS Backup, cross-region replication). Test and refine recovery and failover plans to meet business continuity and RPO/RTO objectives.
•    Automation & DevOps Enablement: Automate routine operational tasks (deployment, patch management, configuration, scaling, etc.) using AWS Systems Manager, Lambda functions, and CI/CD pipelines (AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins, GitLab or similar) to increase efficiency and reliability. Collaborate with development/DevOps teams to streamline build-and-release processes, adopting SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) principles for self-healing, auto-scaling systems.
•    Performance & Cost Optimization (FinOps): Continuously analyze system performance metrics and logs. Optimize infrastructure for cost efficiency (FinOps principles) and performance by right-sizing resources, leveraging auto-scaling, and using AWS Cost Explorer or similar tools for cost management.
•    Security & Compliance: Enforce strong security practices across the AWS environment, including identity and access management (IAM), network security groups, encryption (KMS), and multi-factor authentication for privileged access. Utilize AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, and configuration compliance scans to maintain a hardened security posture. Ensure adherence to compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, PCI DSS, SOC 2) and support internal/external audits by providing necessary documentation and automated evidence.
•    Governance & Change Management: Adhere to ITIL-aligned processes for change control, incident, and problem management. Use IT Service Management (ITSM) tools (e.g., ServiceNow) to document incidents, changes, and service requests, maintaining accountability and audit trails. Participate in CAB (Change Advisory Board) reviews for significant cloud changes to minimize impact on production services.
•    Collaboration & Knowledge Management: Work closely with cross-functional teams (cloud architects, developers, security, and network engineers) to ensure smooth integration and operation of cloud services. Offer specialized L3 guidance to L1/L2 support teams. Maintain up-to-date documentation on architectures, standard operating procedures, and best practices. Contribute to operations runbooks and weekly service review meetings to drive continuous improvement and client satisfaction.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

•    AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer – Associate (SOA-C03) certification (mandatory) – demonstrates ability to deploy, manage, and operate AWS workloads in line with the latest AWS standards.
•    Hands-on AWS Operations Experience: At least 3–5+ years of experience managing AWS production environments at scale, with deep proficiency in core AWS services (e.g., EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, EKS/ECS, Lambda, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, IAM).
•    Infrastructure & Networking: Strong understanding of virtual networking (VPC design, subnets, routing), security groups, DNS, VPN, and load balancers (ALB/NLB) in AWS.
•    Automation & Scripting: Proficiency in shell scripting (e.g., Bash, PowerShell) and at least one programming/scripting language (Python preferred) for automation. Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub/Actions, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline.
•    Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Extensive experience using Terraform or similar IaC frameworks to manage cloud resources, ensuring version-controlled, consistent environment deployments.
•    Monitoring & Incident Response: Familiarity with cloud monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Splunk, Datadog, Prometheus, or AWS native tools) and robust understanding of incident response workflows, including escalation, resolution, and post-incident reviews.
•    Service Management Knowledge: Understanding of ITIL service management processes (Incident, Problem, Change management) and experience working with enterprise ticketing systems (ServiceNow or similar) in a managed services environment.
•    DevOps & Cloud Best Practices: Strong knowledge of DevOps practices, continuous integration/deployment, and modern cloud operations methodologies (SRE principles, blue-green deployments, canary releases).
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):
•    Containerization & Orchestration: Experience operating container platforms (e.g., Docker, Amazon ECS/EKS/Kubernetes), including deploying and managing containerized applications in AWS.
•    Multi-Account Cloud Governance: Familiarity with multi-account AWS management and governance frameworks (AWS Organizations, Control Tower, Service Catalog) for enforcing enterprise standards across multiple accounts/environments.
•    FinOps & Cost Management: Knowledge of cloud cost optimization strategies and FinOps principles, including use of AWS cost management tools and budget controls to drive cost savings and efficiency.
•    Security & Compliance Frameworks: Awareness of compliance and security frameworks (e.g., CIS benchmarks, NIST, GDPR). Experience with automated compliance tools, security incident response, or cloud penetration testing is an advantage.
•    Other Certifications: AWS Solutions Architect – Associate/Professional, AWS DevOps Engineer – Professional, or ITIL Foundation certification are beneficial and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning.
