About the Role:
The Senior JAVA Developer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing high-traffic enterprise shared services and microservices. The role focuses on back-end technologies, ensuring scalable and efficient solutions that ingest, store, transform, and expose structured data for global digital experiences. The developer must be highly skilled in Java with Spring Boot, microservices architectures, and cloud platforms, with a solid understanding of front-end technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Software Development & System Architecture

- Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable Java Spring Boot microservices.
- Ensure high-quality software deliveries that meet technical and business requirements.
- Design and implement high-traffic systems, Web Services, and REST APIs.
- Apply design patterns and best practices to optimize system performance and maintainability.

- Cloud & Infrastructure

- Work with public cloud platforms (preferably AWS) to deploy and manage services.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth and automated deployments.
- Utilize SQL and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and Redis for efficient data management.
- Ensure scalability and resilience of containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.

- Collaboration & Agile Workflows

- Follow Agile methodologies (Scrum) to deliver software iteratively and collaboratively.
- Work effectively in a distributed team environment across Europe.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to define implementation plans and manage dependencies.
- Use Git for version control and work efficiently within a collaborative development environment.
- Document technical specifications and implementation details using Atlassian JIRA & Confluence.

- Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers within the team.
- Take ownership of development tasks, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable and efficient technical solutions.
- Apply strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to ensure the stability and reliability of services.

Key Skills & Requirements:
- 6+ years of experience as a software engineer, with a focus on back-end development.
- Expertise in Java with Spring Boot for developing microservices and enterprise applications.
- Strong understanding of high-traffic systems, microservices architectures, and distributed architectures.
- Experience in designing and implementing Web Services and REST APIs.
- Strong knowledge of public cloud platforms (preferably AWS).
- Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines for automated software delivery.
- Strong expertise in SQL and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Redis).
- Experience with container orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Good understanding of Git for version control and collaboration.
- Some experience with JavaScript (ES5/ES6+), TypeScript, or Kotlin is beneficial.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
- The position is located in Sofia, Bulgaria and combines working in cooperation with teams across multiple locations in Europe.
Preferred Qualification:
- Experience working in sports-related data platforms.
- Familiarity with Atlassian JIRA & Confluence for documentation and task management.
