Mainframe Support Engineer

Location: Pune

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mainframe Support Engineer to provide L0 and L1 support for multiple applications running in mainframe environments. The role involves proactive monitoring of batch jobs, handling abends, coordinating with application teams, and ensuring high service availability within a 24x7 rotational support model.

 

Must-Have Tools & Technologies

  • Zeke & Zebb (for batch job monitoring)

  • ServiceNow ITSM

  • Control-M

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor mainframe batch jobs across Production, QA, and Development environments.

  • Provide L0 and L1 support for mainframe applications.

  • Respond to job failures/abends and take corrective actions as guided by application teams.

  • Ensure adherence to SLAs related to response time, resolution, and communication.

  • Manage special requests/tasks received via email from job owners or application teams.

  • Escalate incidents appropriately and maintain clear communication with stakeholders.

  • Maintain accurate logs, documentation, and shift handover reports.

  • Deliver excellent customer service while ensuring minimal impact on business operations.

  • Work in 24x7 rotational shifts as required.

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5–6 years of hands-on experience in mainframe environments.

  • Strong knowledge of Mainframe COBOL and JCL.

  • Experience monitoring and supporting batch jobs in large-scale mainframe systems.

  • Good understanding of job abends and ability to participate in failure resolution.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to coordinate across teams.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a high-availability, fast-paced support environment.
