The Data Governance Expert will play a crucial role in contributing to our client’s data governance and data architecture stream. They will ensure that the data architecture and data stack are aligned with client’s overall goals and objectives. The Data Architect will also have oversight of data management to ensure that data is stored, organized, integrated, and accessed as defined in policies and procedures.

Mission

Contribute to the UEFA data governance & data architecture stream.
Ensure data architecture and data stack are aligned with UEFA’s overall goal and objectives.
Data management oversight and ensure data is stored, organized, integrated, and accessed as defined in policies and procedures.

Main responsibilities

Act as an SME, reviewing data models and metadata for ICT solutions while ensuring data flow and lifecycle diagrams are maintained.
Ensure seamless integration and consistency of data across various sources and solutions.
Contribute to and enforce data governance policies (e.g., data quality, retention, metadata) while maintaining related documentation.
Implement measures for data usage monitoring, compliance, and protection of sensitive information.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to align governance processes with data needs.
Own the data catalog and governance-related solutions, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
Work with Enterprise and Solution Architects to align data solutions with best practices.
Support Data Analytics teams in designing robust solutions for analytics and data science.
Stay updated on data technologies and trends to ensure UEFA’s data stack remains relevant and cost-efficient.
Coordinate and participate in cross-divisional data governance and architecture meetings.

Desired background

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, IT, or ideally Data Science.
Proven background in data management, governance and analytics.
Hands-on experiences with databases, data warehouses/lakes, and data catalog/governance platforms.
Excellent modeling, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Service-oriented mindset with strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Operational Expectations

Build strong relationships with the business with weekly on-site presence.
Knowledge of marketing/fan areas, ideally in the sports industry.
Experience with modern data catalog tools (Atlan, Alation, CastorDoc, etc.).
Familiarity with UEFA’s data ecosystem or equivalent, including:
- Data Sources: SQL/NoSQL databases, AWS S3
- Transformation: dbt
- Data Warehouse: Snowflake
- Data Science: Dataiku
- BI/Visualization: Tableau (on-prem & cloud), Power BI
