What are the working conditions?

The role is based in Lytham. We are looking for a local candidate or such that is willing to travel 2/3 days a week to the Lytham office - some travel to other sites may be necessary on occasion.

 

Who are we looking for?

 

  • This role is responsible for supporting the business to operate in a way that complies with the adopted risk and compliance policies and procedures.  The role has a significant risk management element to it and requires knowledge and ability to work within a robust risk and controls framework.
  • The team is responsible for monitoring, testing and reporting on the effectiveness of the operation of a wide range of controls, including the compliance with Policy and regulatory standards across the Aegon Protection account. The role also provides both proactive advice to ongoing operations and proposed change initiatives.
  • The role will work across all Operational areas and a good understanding of Operational processes will be desirable.
  • The successful candidate will be highly detailed and pragmatic in their approach to the assessment of Risk within the business.
  • A successful candidate will be someone that has a positive approach and a can-do attitude. They’ll need to be open to change and not be afraid to take on challenges.

 

Who are we:

 

  • This role is part of the Aegon Protection account which works collaboratively with operational, project and support teams across the business to drive a continuous improvement ethos and directly influence the customer experience.

 

Role Responsibilities:

 

  • Work with the business to identify and implement agreed actions to enhance controls and mitigate risk.
  • Investigate issues, report and mitigate the 1st line risk within the contract.  Liaise with the Risk & Compliance Manager and other stakeholders (internal and external) to protect the reputation of Aegon and Atos through the application of appropriate risk controls within the contract.
  • Ensure risks are represented accurately within the RCSA and TDRR framework.
  • Co-ordinate risk management activities as required within the terms of the Aegon contract and Atos policies.
  • Monitor, manage and oversee the resolution of Risk events and breaches, identifying root causes and making recommendations to avoid a repeat of the incident and appropriately escalating issues if necessary
  • Financial Crime controls oversight including Fraud, Money Laundering or Due diligence via Risk Assurance testing.
  • Support the Business Continuity Plan, acting as a facilitator between the business and 2nd line to review and monitor activities.
  • Act as support between the business and other stakeholders for audits and reviews, including Sox, ensuring audits are facilitated efficiently and actions are progressed and closed within timelines.
  • Establish and maintain key relationships with Atos business units, including 2nd Line Risk to, drive improvements in working processes and controls and to mitigate risk
  • Provide support and training to colleagues to help with their learning
  • Provide SME support for the wider business and projects
  • Preparation and oversight of procedure documents, guidance notes and communications
  • Undertake analysis, identify mitigating actions, and prepare Risk related MI
  • Triage referrals and queries from business areas and provide a decision or guidance and in line with agreed standards
  • Work closely with 2nd line colleagues (audit, risk, financial crime etc.) and all other areas of Atos, and with the client and other external bodies to ensure risk mitigation across the contract is robust
  • Enhance Consumer Duty outcomes through appropriate risk controls
  • Participate in learning and development to achieve a continuous and up to date understanding of Aegon, market related products, processes and risk best practice.

 

What essential skills do I need to qualify for the role:

  • BPSS clearance
  • Sound understanding of Financial Services regulations and their application
  • Knowledge of Aegon Life products or similar
  • Strong understanding of all risk categories (financial, regulatory, reputational, operational, safety, commercial etc.) and techniques to manage and mitigate potential risks
  • Ability to work across the full range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Analytical in approach with strong technical skills / ability to scrutinize information accurately and draw accurate conclusions
  • Robust and balanced in dealings with all stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Disciplined work approach and ability to work independently/self-motivated
  • Developed competence in MS Office Suite
  • Track record of problem solving with the emphasis on delivery of necessary change with high quality standards
  • Used to working to tight deadlines whilst adhering to accuracy, detail and quality targets.
  • Experience in a customer centric environment / TCF / Consumer Duty / Vulnerable Customers
  • Good time management, organisation, prioritisation skills, delivery focused
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and ability to plan and work to tight deadlines without compromising accuracy.
  • Positive & flexible attitude

 

Desirable Skills:

 

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Working knowledge of Risk activity such as Incident Management, TDRR, RCSA, Financial Crime ISRs etc.
  • Working knowledge of Aegon and Atos systems and processes.
  • Knowledge of OneSumX risk system
