Position: Project Manager - Hospital Information Systems

Location: Chicago, IL (Onsite)

Type: Fulltime

Salary: $70K to $120K+FTE benefits

 

Key Responsibilities & Requirements:

Position Summary

  • Manage complex projects from concept through completion.
  • Create and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, deliverables, communication plans, risk logs, issue logs, status reports, and performance metrics.
  • Implement risk management plans, including risk identification, impact analysis, resolution, tracking, documentation, and communication.
  • Communicate effectively with sponsors, stakeholders, and project teams.
  • Lead and manage multiple project teams focused on process improvement initiatives.
  • Drive clinical process improvement initiatives within healthcare settings.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, or an equivalent degree preferred.
  • Coursework in healthcare administration or medical office management preferred.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of full-time paid experience in healthcare administration or project management.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience utilizing Microsoft Project or a comparable project management tool.
  • Minimum 2 years of healthcare experience facilitating clinical quality improvement initiatives in a teaching hospital.
  • Finance experience preferred.
  • Prior experience driving change in a complex organization.

Certifications & Training

  • Lean Six Sigma Training or Certification.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification.
  • Healthcare quality and/or patient safety certification preferred.

Knowledge Requirements

  • Knowledge of Joint Commission requirements.
  • Thorough knowledge of project management methodologies and techniques.
  • Knowledge of planning and tracking project scope, timelines, and budgets.
  • Knowledge of business operations and project team leadership.
  • Experience with operational clinical redesign initiatives.
  • Knowledge of improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma and Systems Theory.
  • Knowledge of project lifecycle phases, communication requirements, deliverables, budgets, and security requirements.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to document requirements, designs, communication plans, project plans, status updates, and issues.
  • Ability to conduct meetings and deliver presentations to sponsors, stakeholders, and project teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project or comparable tools.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to manage diverse project teams consisting of employees, vendors, consultants, and external partners.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with medical and nursing leadership to implement clinical care redesign initiatives.
  • Work closely with Finance leaders to support clinical improvement plans.
  • Establish and embed best clinical and operational practices with clinical and operational teams.
  • Partner with hospital-based services to identify and implement high-functioning, role-based workflows.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and patient-centered care.
  • Provide training in data utilization and process improvement methodologies.
  • Train clinic staff on the Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA) process or similar quality improvement models.
  • Support overall practice transformation and continuous quality improvement efforts.
