TITLE:                                   Database Solution Architect

HOURS:                                Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

 

DUTIES:

Reports to company headquarters in Plano, TX.

Work as a Sr. Solution Architect on Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2 LUW and Snowflake technologies.

Designing/implementing/administering large and complex Microsoft SQL Server database environments.

Design databases to support business applications, ensuring system scalability, security, performance and reliability.

Automate database maintenance activities such as rebuild indexes based on fragmentation report, database security reports for Audit reports, long running backups.

Evaluating, implementing, and maintaining Microsoft technology, security updates, hot fixes, upgrades and version releases to ensure architecture stability.

Implement SQL Clustering, Log Shipping, Replication and Mirroring for high availability solutions.

Design best practices for secure database in both on-premises and cloud platforms.

Administering on High Availability and Disaster Recovery strategies.

Using Precise database monitoring tool, we monitored SQL query performance on IBM DB2 UDB databases.

Work on Maestro jobs and Maestro schedulers in IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler.

Achieves organizational goals by defining, integrating, and upgrading a comprehensive architecture to support databases and respective applications.

Design database applications such as interfaces, data transfer mechanisms, global temporary tables, data partitions, and function-based indexes to enable efficient access of the generic database structure.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), or related.

Five (5) years of required experience as a Database Administrator, or related must include: OS Systems: Linux, AIX, Unix and Windows; RDBMS: Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2 UDB database and Azure SQL; DB Tools: AlwaysOn, HADR, Replication, DB2HAICU, EMC Networker, Veritas NetBackup, SSIS, SSRS and SSAS; Monitoring Tools: Precise, Idera and SumoLogic; Languages: SQL, Shell scripting and PowerShell; Applications: Siebel, Endeca, WEM and Akamai; Devops tools: Source tree, GIT, Bitbucket and Jira; and Data Warehouse Tools: Netezza and Snowflake.

 

ROVING/TELECOMMUTING EMPLOYEE:

Reports to company headquarters in Plano, TX. Will work at various unknown client sites throughout the U.S. for up to 100% of the time. Must be willing to travel anywhere in the U.S. and may be assigned to work at client sites across the U.S. Can work remotely or telecommute.
