HIM Supervisor

Shift:

Day shift  Monday - Friday

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises medical records staff, delegates responsibilities, coordinates work assignments and provides cost effective management of resources for the health information management department.
  • Assists in employee actions such as scheduling and training of health information management employees and addresses work rule violations and performance issues under the direction of senior leadership.
  • Identifies and implements improvement measures that will enhance department operations and customer service
  • Responsible for the daily operation of medical record processes and document imaging processes including but not limited to monitoring the quality and quantity of workflow to ensure the completion of work assignments providing interpretation of function and department policy.
  • Performs competency assessments in all areas of document imaging processes (prepping, scanning, quality control, validation and equipment maintenance) and record maintenance.
  • Facilitates team meetings and prepares associated agenda and meeting minutes
  • Assists in monitoring and reporting all required hospital performance measures which may include developing department goals and assisting in the assessment of goal attainment and regulatory compliance
  • May perform other duties as necessary to meet company and department objectives.

 

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate degree in Health Information Management (RHIT).
  • One year of medical record experience.
  • One year of leadership experience.
  • Active member of the American Health Information Management Association with maintenance of continuing education requirements.
  • Ability to navigate and utilize Microsoft Office and the ability to multitask in a fast paced ever changing health care services environment.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply HIPAA guidelines to all aspects of assigned job duties.
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements such Joint Commission/CMS related to timeliness and completion of medical records.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous electronic patient record and/or clinical data repository experience.
  • Conflict resolution, discretion, diplomacy, tact and listening skills
  • Leadership skills such as accountability, decision-making, coaching and counseling
