The opportunity
This is an office-based role, which is full time and based in Glasgow. Some travel to other sites (internal and external) may be necessary on occasion.
The Product Accounting (PA) team provide the financial custodianship associated with the control, reconciliation and reporting of the payment and receipt of NS&I funds, including on our B2B accounts.
This includes 3rd party system administration, live support, producing the monthly and annual accounting packs for each NS&I product account, TFC, HTS and CFO, management of the sales and payment channels and reconciliation of bank statements.
The purpose of the Accounting Assistant role is to:
- To complete daily, weekly and monthly financial control reconciliations to confirm the accuracy of the transactions being processed by the Banking Providers and Agents of NS&I and through the various customer accounting systems
- The accuracy of the transaction accounting information being input to the financial accounting systems and being reported in the monthly, quarterly and annual Product Accounts.
- To establish, in a timely and accurate manner, the daily National Loans Fund (NLF) Funding and Defunding figures, and to help ensure that this information is passed on to the Bank of England and the Treasury by the specified deadlines to meet Performance Indicator (PI) accuracy and timeliness targets.
- To support the completion of live IR accounting entries.
Your day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Undertaking allocated tasks to the quality and productivity standards set by the Senior Accounting Manager and Accounting Manager
- Being proactive in making sure you are adequately cross skilled to help the team meet customer demand
- Proactively contributing informed ideas and suggestions on how delivery for the Customer can be improved
- Active engagement in team meetings
