About the role:
The Risk & Assurance Director oversees all regulatory, compliance, and risk‑management activities for Atos BPS Limited, Atos’ FCA regulated business providing outsourced life and pension administration services to UK insurance clients. The role designs, implements, and assures effective risk and compliance strategies that meet regulatory, audit, and legal requirements. It also supports the Client Executive in maintaining the Risk Register and guides risk owners in assessing strategic and operational risks across current services and new business opportunities.
Note: The position is based in the UK and will require BPSS clearance eligibility, including travel to Edinburgh when required.
Responsible for:
- Overseeing all regulatory, compliance, and risk matters for Atos BPS Limited.
- Designing, implementing, and assuring risk, compliance, and assurance strategies aligned with regulatory, audit, and legal requirements.
- Leading the Risk & Assurance Directorate (circa 20 people) across the three lines of defence model, including financial crime (fraud and AML), regulatory compliance, operational risk, policy governance, business continuity (2nd line), and audit oversight.
- Managing the SM&CR regime and SMF responsibilities matrix with HR, including assessments, recruitment, and appointments.
- Supporting risk owners and the Client Executive in maintaining the Risk Register and assessing strategic and operational risks.
- Ensuring Atos meets all outsourced‑partner obligations through strong governance, proactive risk identification, and continuous assurance.
Skill Requirements:
- Senior level experience in Life and pension industry, ideally working with or in a regulated outsourced environment
- Ability to build strong client relationships, including Risk Director level counterparts, assure operational delivery, and position Atos for future work.
- Solid financial and P&L understanding with proven experience in a similar leadership role.
- Strong situational leadership across performance management, strategy, and operational issue resolution.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and team‑leadership skills.
- Strong general management capability, able to stay composed under pressure and delegate effectively.
- Professional presence and credibility with clients and senior internal leaders.
