We're lookig for a Oncology Data Specialist to provide case finding, abstracting, follow-up, and data processing in accordance with the ACoS Standards, ensuring that all Cancer Registry activities operate in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, and the Commission on Cancer requirements. 

 

 

What will you be doing:
• Responsible for case finding, data abstraction, and follow-up of patients with a diagnosis of cancer. 
• Performs clinical data abstraction by capturing the complete patient history, diagnosis, staging and treatment information for all patients accessioned into the cancer registry in accordance with the guidelines established by the American College of Surgeon Commission on Cancer, National and State Cancer Registries and accrediting agencies. 
• Utilizes cancer data collection principles and assign codes to the extracted data based on established coding systems (STORE, SEER, ICD-O3, AJCC Staging 8th Ed) to ensure consistency and compliance with reporting guidelines. 
• Performs quality assurance activities such as review of abstracted data for accuracy, peer reviews, resolution of data edits, conduct non-reportable audits to ensure that all reportable cases are captured, consolidation of multiple data reports into a concise record for each cancer case, and inclusion of additional treatment and follow-up information obtained after completion of the initial abstract. 
• Maintain the confidentiality and security of patient data stored in the Cancer Registry files. 
• Assist in coordinating client activities of the Cancer Registry in conjunction with the Cancer Committee and Tumor Conference, (if applicable for position). 
• Meets daily productivity standards as established by Manager.

Requirements:

1. Must have a certification from the US organization National Cancer Registry Association (NCRA), as a Oncology Data Specialist/ODS, formerly known as a Certified Tumor Registrar/CTR. Will accept either certification if it is current. 
2. Must maintain continuing education requirements and membership in NCRA. 
3. A minimum of two years of experience in the Cancer Data field, preferably at an ACOS approved program. 
4. Experience working with cNext, Rocky Mountain, EPIC, Cerner 
5. Must be detailed-orientated, with the ability to work independently.
