What's the job about?

  • The primary purpose of the Security Analyst/Engineer is to detect and identify vulnerabilities and configuration issues using a wide range of security solutions (vulnerability scanners etc.). You will be part of the customer service team for an international enterprise customer in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry, delivering customer-specific vulnerability management services, operating within the Global VMS team.
  • Building, monitoring and maintaining a vulnerability scanner and software agent infrastructure in the customer’s global locations including production facilities (IT and OT technology).
  • Building, monitoring and maintaining a tooling environment based on Qualys Cloud Platform and ServiceNow, according connectors and a customer specific middleware.
  • Responding to standard service requests, incident tickets and customer information requests.
  • Analysing vulnerabilities and configuration issues to determine validity, priority and impact.
  • Producing reports, collecting information from internal and external sources, combining data from different sources.
  • Supporting the customer security organization.
  • Perform operational tasks via a CLI and MS Windows desktop; the successful candidate will be required to SSH and RDP into service infrastructure.
  • Manage escalations to senior staff members when necessary.
  • Assist with mentoring of junior staff members where required.

  • Accept, assess and resolve Qualys Cloud Platform support incidents, change control requests, service requests and occasional phone calls.
  • Manage incidents and problems to minimize impact on the business users, escalate recurrences of serious incidents for priority permanent resolution.
  • Early identification of when 3rd line support team involvement is required.
  • Assist in maintaining technical support documentation.
  • Support level 1 staff and assist with mentoring through training programme and daily duties.
  • Deployment of new scanner instances according to service documentation and supplied HLD/LLD.
  • Support Qualys Cloud Agent deployment.
  • Monitor and improve the overall performance and operations of the tooling platform
  • Understand vulnerabilities and their environment and be able to explain them to customer staff, providing remediation guidance.

Essential/Minimum Criteria:

  • Good English communication skills (written and oral).
    • All team members are expected to communicate/ contribute with their intel to the group knowledge pool for the Greater Good of the team.
  • Excellent skills working with Microsoft Office, (especially Excel, and Word)
  • Enthusiastic to learn whilst remaining committed to developing within the Global VMS security function.
  • Proven problem solving capability.
  • Data literate and able to identify what type of analysis is required in order to address specific business issues.
  • Willing to undertake formal information security accreditation and examinations.
  • Able to continually develop and keep abreast of changes in the industry.
  • Ability to rapidly absorb relevant information, when it is systematically presented and apply it effectively.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused when under pressure.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or independently.



  • Previous experience in detailed system configuration of MS Windows and/or Linux.
  • MCSA Windows Server and/or LPI Linux Essentials certifications.
  • Previous experience of working with Qualys Cloud Platform toolset.
  • Experience in developing analytic based solutions for clients
  • Basic or intermediate knowledge of Pyhton and/or SQL and/or REST APIs.
  • Awareness of protective marking.
  • Awareness of information security industry standards e.g. PCI-DSS, ISO27001 …
  • Awareness of and some experience in administration of information technology components e.g. PC/Server/Network etc.
