Category Buyer – Indirect Services

 

About the role

We are looking for a Category Buyer to manage procurement activities across indirect service categories, with a focus on Professional Services, IT Services, Facilities and HR-related services. In this role, you will lead sourcing initiatives, negotiate commercial agreements, support business stakeholders and contribute to the development and execution of category sourcing strategies. You will play a key role in delivering cost optimization opportunities, building strong supplier relationships and ensuring procurement activities support business objectives. This role is ideal for someone who combines a commercial mindset with strong stakeholder management and sourcing expertise.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end procurement activities within assigned indirect service categories
  • Lead sourcing events (RFI, RFP, RFQ) and conduct commercial negotiations with suppliers
  • Develop and execute category sourcing strategies aligned with business needs
  • Partner closely with stakeholders across HR, IT, Facilities and Finance functions
  • Build and manage supplier relationships, including performance and SLA reviews
  • Analyze spend, market trends and cost drivers to identify savings and optimization opportunities
  • Support contract negotiations and ensure compliance with procurement policies
  • Ensure service quality and value delivery throughout the supplier lifecycle

 

What you need to succeed

  • 3–6+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing or buying roles
  • Hands-on experience managing indirect procurement categories
  • Experience leading sourcing initiatives and commercial negotiations for service-based categories (e.g. IT Services, Professional Services, Facilities, HR Services)
  • Strong negotiation and commercial skills
  • Ability to build effective relationships with business stakeholders and suppliers
  • Understanding of service delivery models, SLAs and commercial contract structures
  • Strong analytical skills, including spend analysis and benchmarking
  • Very good English (min. B2 level)

Nice to have

  • Experience working in a global or matrix organization
  • Knowledge of procurement tools such as SAP, Ariba or Coupa
  • Exposure to category management methodologies
  • Professional procurement certifications (e.g. CIPS) would be an advantage
