The opportunity

A chance to join our lively Defra application support team based in Beeston, Nottingham, to deliver Application Support for our Customer’s business critical applications! Working as part of a wider team, you will deliver application support against a service window of 0&:00 to 19:00 Monday to Friday. You will triage incidents and service requests raised by the end user, investigating with the wider team to identify resolution, thus ensuring overall performance of the application in line with agreed SLAs and client expectation.

The role offers the opportunity to build awareness of ITIL Service Management methodologies, as well as to increase understanding of further applications used across the Defra account!

 

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

You will perform daily morning checks, reviewing web-page availability and monitoring tools for underlying performance issues, to ensure the applications are performing in an optimum fashion.

You will investigate and update Incidents submitted through the Atos EU ServiceNow ticketing application, escalating any technical or business issues. You will, through your support activities, ensure the successful conclusion of tickets in alignment to agreed SLAs.

You will ensure applied changes have been carried out successfully and according to client expectations. You will also review and check automated deployments to ensure they completed successfully. You will also coordinate the completion of Service Requests which can include Ad-Hoc report generation, updating an application newspage and updating automated email settings.

In the event of issues that are prompting several reoccurring incidents, you will coordinate the creation and management of Problem records, working with the Customer to prioritise while working alongside the wider to address the root cause.

The role, requiring BPSS clearance at a minimum, is nominally based on-site at our Atos Beeston, Nottingham office, however we also have all the tools and tech we need to enable our teams to work flexibly.

 

Required Skills:

  • SQL and PL SQL.
  • Strong Incident Management Toolset awareness.
  • Demonstrable ITIL process knowledge.
  • Strong awareness of Service Level Management.
  • Excellent social skills, working in a team with both internal and external partners.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Have had proven client facing experience.
  • Interpersonal skills complimented by good solid understanding of MS Office applications.

 

Skills we’d like:

  • Java / J2EE.
  • Unix.
