Mainframe DB2 System Administrator

Do you see the bigger picture when it comes to z/OS database management? We're seeking a forward-thinking DB2 System Administrator to join our team. 

Your job in a nutshell:

The successful candidate must have experience in DB2 for z/OS database management and administration.

What will you be doing:

• Install, configure and upgrade DB2 database software;
• Assist with testing, implementation and installation of new/improved systems, as well as product upgrades;
• Build policies, standards and procedures for the Database system support and usage;
• Supervise and maintain database systems to ensure efficient performance and availability;
• Perform routine backups and recovery procedures;
• Conduct regular performance analysis and tuning to optimize query performance;
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks;
• Collaborate with application developers to craft and implement efficient database schemas;
• Maintain data dictionaries and documentation;
• Implement and maintain database high availability solutions (e.g., clustering, replication).

Requirements:

Professional Skills:

• Experience as a DB2 for z/OS System Programmer or in a similar role;
• Understanding of DB2 for z/OS database management and administration, DB2 Recovery scenarios;
• Familiarity with database security standard processes.

Nice to have:

• IBM DB2 certification.

Behavioral Skills:

• Excellent problem-solving skills;
• Proficient English – level B2 or above;
• Excellent and effective communication skills with management;
• Ability to work effectively in diverse, multi-national and virtual environments.
