The Opportunity:

Join our UK&I Procurement Department and become a Senior Buyer! The role is strategically meaningful to the successful delivery of required cost base for the UK&I Business. It requires cross-functional working with many different areas of the UK&I business including all Service Lines, Major Accounts, and Verticals. As a Senior Buyer you will be responsible for day to day procurement activities, developing and improving the category strategy to achieve corporate growth and OM targets to the UK&I RBU (Regional Business Unit).

 

On this job you will:

  • Set, define and implement the Category Strategy - identify business needs and requirements within RBU. Develop together with the Global Lead Buyer, Global Category Managers and RBU Tower Directors the RBU strategy and action plan for segment. Execute and implement the plan.
  • Actively engage with the Procurement Bid Solution Managers to ensure future requirements are encapsulated in the category strategy. This will include incorporating disruptive technology and digital transformation into bid solutions.
  • Train and mentor team members.
  • Collaborate with Global Purchasing, especially with the Global Lead Buyers to integrate the maximum of savings and value from the global actions into RBU. Support and lead both local and global process changes. Communicate operational facts into Global Category Managers and Lead Buyers so that additional value can be integrated into the global actions.
  • Support local bids and new business projects and implement project related purchases if done at the local level or as requested.
  • Encourage ‘blue sky’ thinking from all partners as to how localised costs can be driven down.
  • Handle post contract supplier relationships for any appropriate key local suppliers and contracts including ownership of all commercial and contract aspects of supplier management. Ensure compliance with contracted services alongside the Operations of the Business. Liaise with internal partners to understand and agree on any transformation/improvement plans and negotiate with suppliers.
  • Be an ambassador for Procurement.

 

Requirements:

  • Previous experience of managing partners at senior level
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to ensure credibility and effective working relationships with internal and external partners – clear focus on delivery to client and demonstrable understanding of requirement to flex business models to meet customer demand
  • Previous experience in undertaking commercial modelling and cost base analysis
  • Strong Software/Telco procurement experience
  • Ability to analyse and resolve complex problems quickly to drive performance improvement
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and embed change
  • Ability to handle and mitigate risk through effective strategic planning activity
