The opportunity

The NEST Programme is designing, developing and delivering a Pensions BPO for a UK Mastertrust pension scheme covering in the region of 15m members and 1m employers. The operation is scheduled to transition from existing BPO provider and launch with Atos in April 2023. You will be working within the Design workstream coordinating design delivery of all aspects of the organization set-up, end-to-end design of customer journeys and all supporting enabling capabilities. The Design team covers in the region of 140 staff working across the UK and offshore, centred out of our Lochside office in Edinburgh.


Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Project Management / Programme management Support

  • General office/team management

  • Track project financials, coordinate client invoicing, ensure client purchase orders in place

  • Support/implement project governance including Atos Consulting Standard Engagement Model processes e.g. regular review meetings

  • Prepare and maintain regular programme reports and performance metrics

  • Collecting and analysing data to support teamwork

  • Management of programme risk boards for the overall Design team

  • Lead internal Atos processes e.g. time/expense approval, resource requests, new joiners and leavers

  • Create and maintain generic project management standards, processes and procedures

  • Provide generic and specific support for the development and content of business cases

  • Evaluate project performance and recommend changes where performance is found to be unsatisfactory

  • Servicing of project boards, project assurance teams and quality review meetings

  • Administration of project change control including the use of configuration management systems


Signs of success

To be successful in this role, you’ll need a rich combination of experience, tested skills and personal attributes. The role is available UK Wide, however the core programme tea is based in Edinburgh. Travelling to Edinburgh on a regular basis is part of the role, so all candidates should be fully mobile.


Skills we can’t do without:

  • A good understanding of Atos processes and procedures

  • Project / Programme management knowledge – knowledge of working in projects and programmes. Understanding of project management methods, principles, techniques and tools

  • Proactive approach, able to take responsibility for resolving exceptions / mitigating risks and issues

  • Able to work under stress and work to tight deadlines

  • Experience of finance, risk and reporting processes

  • Ability to perform financial management activities e.g. controlling time and expense booking, recognising revenue, invoicing

  • Eligibility for SC clearance

  • Problem-solving skills

  • Good communication (written and oral) and social skills


Skills we’d like:

  • Degree educated or equivalent

  • Prince 2/Agile or other project and programme management qualifications

  • Good working understanding of O365 products, especially Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint

  • Strong reporting, presentation and problem-solving skills

  • Capable of working with partners at all levels, both internally and externally

  • Ability to mentor less experienced PMO members

  • Understanding of standard financial models and how to find the information to update them

  • Expertise in workforce management from a supply and customer perspective

  • Ability to recognise risk and issues when working on a project, and the ability to assist with the management of RAID

  • Consistent record in running delivery assurance reviews; understanding of the various stages and the need for a quality review
