Development Manager 

 

Cross Cloud Functional Services – Cloud Enterprise Solutions 

 

Deliver and continually improve the software development lifecycle functions within the Cross Cloud Functional Services organization. Facilitate and manage the key components that support business services. Designs and leads strategies to ensure long-term competitiveness of business processes, products and services.  Act as a role model, an agent of change, mentor and coach to others both within and outside the organization. 

 

Plan, coordinate, supervise all activities related to the design, development, implementation of the organization's application development functions. Manages multiple teams supporting different Cloud components or lines of businesses. Directs and guides the staff, reviews different project requests, timeline and cost. Develops, distributes, supports, enforces, and integrates best practices and standards across the organization.  

 

Primary responsibilities 

 

Manage a team of up to 20 employees including both permanent and contractor staff in locations around the globe.  Provide team leadership, coaching and mentoring with a focus on personal development as well as team building and increased velocity. 

 

Drive the development, improvement, and evolution of Cloud service component and sub-component services  

 

Make leadership decisions on strategic and tactical initiatives that have significant business impact by working closely with decision makers across the organization.   

 

Provide leadership and guidance on the definition and implementation of Application Development and CI/CD procedures, and best practices.  

 

Provide leadership and guidance ensuring team members are adequately trained on the technology and processes required to deliver to the goals of the organization.  In addition, minimize the risk to support business applications by conducting proper cross-training for in-scope components and applications.  

 

Qualifications 

 

Bachelor degree in computer science or computer information systems or other degree with equivalent work experience 

 

A minimum of 10 years of experience in Application Development practices including 5+ years in supervisory or management positions 

 

Extensive application development and CI/CD with Cloud Native tech, platforms and services. 

 

Experience working with Agile methodologies and teams, SAFe 5 experience and certification 

Strong personnel management and leadership skills, adept in identifying and managing to key behaviors. Must be able to assess individual strengths and weaknesses and develop and implement plans to build required competencies and generate required behaviors. 

 

Strong analytical focus, results-oriented and execution driven, with the ability to align application development with the generation of potential competitive business advantage. 

 

Bottom-line oriented with the ability to push self and team for results, demonstrated success at managing resources to achieve goals. 

 

Strong problem solving and root cause analysis skills, with the ability to identify learning opportunities, improve current processes. 

 

Effective communications and presentation delivery skills, especially to senior management on engineering and development strategies and standards; able to create and maintain cross-segment relationships and foster Collaboration, knowledge sharing and cooperation.  Ability to communicate new concepts, and drive change in process and behaviors. 

 

Significant experience in vendor management, communication with vendor engineering and vendor product development 

 

Reporting and metric production for processes and services including consumption, usage capacity, performance, efficiency and compliance to support strategic planning and decisions 

 

Experience analyzing project scope and determining resources needs to meet business objectives 

 

Strong project planning and management skills, and experience encompassing scope of work, time estimation, and resource assignment
