About the role

• Out of Hours working required as the job demands
• On-Call rota participation required
• Security vetting clearable to SC level required with additional Police security clearance Applicants must be UK citizens or have lived in the UK for 5 years to be eligible for Security Clearance.

About the team

• Provide MS SQL support and development services for a Public Sector Client within the Police market, though could potentially cover a range of support customers across different industries.
• The team works with other Global and UK Practices and Sub-Practices providing support for MS SQL platforms which are linked to Applications; o/s, Desktop, networking, call centre, etc. to provide an integrated service to the client.
• The team works within a pressured and service level driven environment that is both ambitious and rewarding and provides opportunities to work across many platforms and technologies.
• The need for cost reduction, speed, and agility is leading to a reduction in the traditional Application Management market with an increased focus on increased automation, adoption of lower maintenance cloud services, and application consolidation and rationalisation.
• However, this decline is offset by an increase in multiyear capacity-driven DevOps contracts and application improvement services.
• Modernisation initiatives such as application refactoring, cloud migration, application upgrades, analytics and value-added services are driving significant growth in application implementation, both in project services and within AM contracts.
• Consequently, we are in the process of refreshing and developing our existing portfolio of offerings to be in line with the latest Industry trends and client needs, defining and developing the next generation application management services that Atos will deliver to its clients to drive profitable growth.
• This opportunity is key to the development of our next generation application management services

Roles and Responsibilities

• Administration support for Incidents, problems and changes.
• Database shutdown and starts.
• Fixes and patches to fix security vulnerabilities and conform to vendor recommendations
• System user and group management – e.g. creating new DBMS system user IDs and modifying existing DBMS system users
• Configuration management – populate the configuration management database (CMDB) in the ITSM tool with database configuration items (CIs).
• Housekeeping – monitoring scheduled housekeeping jobs, regular maintenance and clean-up of the database environment, DBMS maintenance activities, and controlling the correct functioning of these tasks Backup, restore, archiving and deletion Requirements of the role:
• Work experience of supporting MS SQL Databases in an Application Management environment Comprehensive knowledge of database concepts, data modelling and database applications and can apply such knowledge in a variety of application related situations including COTS and bespoke applications.

You will need a good experience in MS SQL Server to undertake this role.
