The software and hardware architecture of the future products are defined within the Architecture department of Product Architecture & Program, in collaboration with the marketing and development teams. In addition, R&D research projects with customers and partners are actively contributing to the success of the program. In particular the RED-SEA research project (redsea-project.eu) is targeting the design of a new generation of high performance network interconnect to power the future European Exascale systems.



You will join this team to work on the next generations of BXI technology. In close collaboration with hardware and software architects you will define the features of the new generation of BXI technology translating the marketing demands. You will be assisted by the modeling and implementation experts to ensure the performance and the cost of the solution. 



Your role will include the following activities:


  • Writing requirements based on customer and marketing demands
  • Writing component level architecture specifications with functional requirements and functional interfaces
  • Supporting the development team during each step of the ASIC design flow
  • Working closely to the software team to optimize programming models and semantic
  • Preparing performance projections and cost evaluation to improve the quality of the decision-making process at each stage of the project
  • Fostering innovations in RDMA based technologies for Ethernet or HPC beyond the state of the art and designing hardware to provide both capabilities



You are required to have strong focus on efficient hardware design, with good system knowledge to codesign hardware and software to achieve scalable performance and robust solutions. Your skills shall range from providing guidance for silicon design engineering as well as interfacing with software teams and customers. You are required to have experience in hardware development and optimization of parallel applications. You will propose features optimizing the performance of HPC applications running on a supercomputer embedding a high performance network. This includes the drivers, the communication libraries, the routing algorithms and the fabric management software (administration and supervision of the network). 


This position is located in one of the Atos / Bull research and development centers, Clayes-sous-Bois or Bruyères-le-Châtel in Ile-de-France or Grenoble or Sophia. 




Training/Education: Bac+5, engineering school or university 

Required experience: minimum 5 years of experience in hardware development preferably in an HPC or datacenter context. 


Technical skills: 


- ASIC/FPGA design 

- Good knowledge in high performance Ethernet or Infiniband standards  


Good knowledge or experience in one or several of the following areas would be appreciated: 

  • experience in ethernet networking technologies and usages including IP networking 

  • experience in RDMA protocols including RoCE 

  • experience in RDMA software including Portals, IB verbs APIs 

  • experience in Parallel programing libraries such as MPI 

  • Knowledge in x86, RISCV or ARM server architecture 

  • Knowledge in the administration and supervision of HPC or Ethernet networks. 


Animation of meetings in English, English documents reading and writing. 

The quality of your relationship with other peoples (developers team, hardware architect, platform and cluster management, marketing team, external partners), and your ability to analyze and synthesize, will be key to succeed in this position.
