TITLE:                                     Database Administrator (DBA) 


HOURS:                                  Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm


DUTIES:                                 Design, install, monitor, maintain, and performance tune production, test/development, and QA database environments while ensuring high levels of data availability. Responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of all databases and their accompanying software. Design and implement redundant systems, policies and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets. Remain current with the latest technologies and industry/business trends.


Roving/Telecommuting Employee: Reports to company headquarters in Irving, Texas. Will work at various unknown client sites throughout the U.S. for up to 100% of the time. Must be willing to travel anywhere in the U.S. and may be assigned to work at client sites across the U.S. Can work remotely or telecommute.


REQUIREMENTS:               Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or related.


5 years of experience as a Database Administrator, or related.


5 years of experience as a Database Administrator, or related must include: Implementing and managing Windows failover clustering, AlwaysOn Failover Cluster Instances and AlwaysOn groups, SQL Server High-Availability technologies such as Replication, Mirroring, and, Failover clusters; Installing, upgrading and administering Microsoft SQL Server database engine, Integration Services (SSIS), Reporting Services (SSRS) and Analysis Services (SSAS); Migrating Microsoft SQL server databases and respective database securities from lower versions to higher versions (SQL Server 2008 R2 to SQL Server 2014 and 2016); Upgrading Microsoft SQL server databases by applying the latest service packs; Creating Maintenance plans and troubleshooting SQL Server Agent scheduled jobs such as database Integrity, tables cardinality, Index fragmentation and rebuild/reorg indexes on daily (or) weekly basis; Troubleshooting Microsoft SQL Server High Availability solutions such as SQL Clustering, AlwaysOn, Database mirroring and Replication technologies; Setting up replication, adding and deleting articles from existing replication setup; Writing PowerShell scripts to automate database maintenance activities such as rebuild indexes based on fragmentation report, database security reports for Audit reports, long running backups etc; EMC Networker backup tool to take database backups and recovering databases using backups during disaster situations; Evaluating, implementing, and maintaining Microsoft technology, security updates, hot fixes, upgrades and version releases to ensure architecture stability; Troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, connectivity issues, and security issues; Designing/implementing/administering large and complex Microsoft SQL Server database environments; Working with development teams to tune and redesign SQL code to improve SQL query performance; Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools; Administering SQL Server High Availability and Disaster Recovery strategies; Warehouse and ETL tools like SSIS. SSRS Reporting tool with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO) using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as Idera.
