The following are the key tasks and responsibilities of the Lead Architect:

•     Leads the development of technology strategy, roadmaps and future state architectures for the account in conjunction with the Sector and/or Service Line CTO aligned with the client ’s business requirements

•     Knows and understands the account’s business, information system and infrastructure architectures across all constituent parts

•     Provides direction and guidance on all technical aspects of the IT landscape, ensuring adherence to relevant Business & IT strategies, policies, standards and practices

•     Acts as the Architecture Authority, providing Governance and Assurance to both pre and post sales driven design change

•     Owns the end to end Architecture across all its constituent parts, e.g., Business, Application, Data, Infrastructure and Service Architectures

•     Ensures appropriate high-level design documentation is produced as a recognized set of deliverables that are consistent with the Global Atos Architecture Methodologies and Frameworks

•     Facilitates organic growth of business within the account by promoting new solutions/innovation and reducing costly upfront discussions about the most appropriate way forward

•     Develops strong relationships with the client becoming a trusted advisor

•     Takes a key role in understanding the client’s business requirements and contracted services, relating these to the customer technical strategy and mapping them to the various delivery streams

•     Maintains an awareness of, and promotes, any relevant statutory, internal, or external regulations, standards, and codes of good practice, e.g., those relating to security, quality, data protection, audit, etc.

•     Leads cross Practice Architecture teams working to ensure consistency of understanding and application of appropriate Atos technology strategy(ies) within the account

•     Represents Atos at Client meetings providing technical and Architecture guidance

•     Provides support, guidance and leadership to the technical resolution of cross-service line major incidents when required

•     Understand the technical risks associated with each aspect of the service and/or projects for the customer and be an escalation point for risks and issues as appropriate

Customer focus

•     Owns the Global account innovation strategy with tangible outcomes agreed with the client and consistent, where possible, with Atos innovation governance processes.

•     Leverages knowledge, experience and relationships promoting Atos technical leadership and innovation capability with client staff up to CIO/CTO level

•     Builds and manages productive relationships with strategic 3rd parties in line with Global Atos alliance strategy and other vendors where appropriate to bring added value to the account.

Technical focus

•     Stays abreast of developments in the industry, sector and Global Atos Technical and Innovation Strategies and apply to the customer’s Technical Strategy.

•     Maintain awareness of the wider Global Atos CTO community to advocate technology and solution initiatives both into, and from, the account as contractually appropriate.

•     Is aware of technology developments within the marketplace and channel this information into the account and the wider service line organization.

•     Able to understand, explain and present complex ideas to both specialist and non-specialist audiences at all levels in a persuasive and convincing manner.

•     Able to analyze and explain the risks involved in using, or not using, targeted solutions to address business or organizational issues.

•     Able to co-ordinate several architectural perspectives, merging and dividing these into a coherent and pragmatic overall architecture.

•     Exhibit a broad and deep technical knowledge of the account’s appropriate elements of the Information System and Information Technology stacks informed by knowledge of the business and client strategies.

•     Combine technical expertise and commercial awareness with the ability to influence and lead technology and innovation decisions taken, and strategies developed

•     Stays abreast of new developments in the market and, where appropriate, build a roadmap for their introduction to the account and demonstrates expertise across the IT Infrastructure stack.



  • Bachelor's degree or comparable education
  • Many years of professional experience in the design of application architectures, cloud architectures, software and IT architectures
  • Knowledge of internationally recognized modern IT architectures and complex cloud environments
  • detailed knowledge of AWS, Azure and/or GCP IaaS and PaaS services
  • Knowledge of current methodologies, guidelines and best practices as well as the latest developments within the cloud discipline (from cloud enabling, design to implementation and migration)
  • Analytical, structured and networked thinking, goal-oriented and customer-focused action, quick comprehension and consulting mentality
  • Independent and structured way of thinking and working
  • Excellent communication skills at CxO level
  • Strong integrative, interdisciplinary and analytical skills
  • High level of commitment and ability to work in a team
  • High customer and problem-solving orientation
  • Technical leadership in a heterogeneous environment
  • Fluency in written and spoken German and English
