We are looking for a Financial Crime Policy Assurance Manager to join our team!

 

The 2nd line Financial Crime function (2LOD FC) defines the Policy and Strategy for Financial Crime in line with the business strategy. 2LOD FC provides independent assurance and oversight on 1st line implementation and adherence to policy requirements. This role strengthens function capability and effectiveness to fully discharge its 2nd line role. The ideal candidate is energised and self-motivated individual with a proven track record in working within a 2nd line Risk environment.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Policies - In conjunction with the Financial Crime Director, develop the suite of Financial Crime policies, minimum standards and guidance documentation incorporating the management of breaches, waivers and dispensations. This should cover policies that support a range of different and diverse clients and products.
  • Assurance - Leading an assurance practice and developing and delivering the FC assurance plan through thematic reviews and oversight, highlighting financial crime risks and control gaps, and assisting the business in identifying actions to drive improvements through to action closure
  • Improvements - Assess the impact of key regulatory developments, sanctions, industry standard methodology on current policies and procedures, and ensure that any essential changes are properly implemented.
  • Horizon - Leading and handling FC horizon scanning by continuously identifying, screening and assessing emerging threats and changes to the FC environment, identifying key threats to partners to enable impact assessment and call to action.
  • Oversight - Monthly oversight of key regulatory and fraud controls.
  • Reporting - Provide documented independent 2nd line risk reports and opinions to the Financial Crime Steering Group
  • MI - Ensure that Management Information used is of sufficient quantity and quality to enable the MLRO and senior management to actively supervise the level of money laundering risk faced across all its activities and that processes are clearly identified.
  • Partners - Develop strong and trusted partner relationships to ensure 2nd line Financial Crime is considered as a trusted advisory business partner.
  • Guidance - Where vital, provide accurate advice and guidance to the operational units and technical staff on specific matters relating to anti-money laundering standard methodology, compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice.

 

Skills and experience we cannot do without:

  • Experience of working within a 2nd line Risk environment or fraud function would prove beneficial
  • Capable of building trusted business relationships. Promotes active partner management.
  • The ability to analyse, interpret and evaluate data accurately, using conclusions to make relevant recommendations
  • Ready to lead assurance and monitoring reviews providing recommendations where appropriate to improve fraud management and control
  • Collaborative skills – ability to work in a team orientated environment. Fosters collaborative engagement with 1st line, other SMEs and functions.
  • Ability to build succinct, effective Committee MI & reporting.
  • Be aware of the bigger picture, both organisationally and externally, developing longer term plans within this perspective.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates a strong grasp of the business, the systems, supporting processes and procedures used.
  • Is skilled in project and partner management. Thus, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and that partners are ‘bought into’ the work-stream.
  • Be naturally inquisitive. Adopts a proactive approach to ensuring we are on top of the experience being delivered to customers.
