The Global Product Owner (GPO) is a member of the Global Cloud Platforms Portfolio team, responsible for defining Stories, acceptance criteria and prioritizing product backlog to streamline the execution of development priorities while maintaining the conceptual and technical integrity of the features or components for the team. GPOs are responsible for summarizing the business requirement into work for development teams in the form of a backlog of Epics and Stories.

The GPO has a meaningful role in improving the value produced by the product development team and ensuring stories meet the user’s needs and follow the defined acceptance criteria. One GPO will support no more than two product scrum teams and keep close relationships and responsibilities outside the development team, including working closely with Product Management, Customers, Business Owners, and other team members.

Role Responsibilities:

 

  • Preparation for Product Planning Increment (PI) planning. Includes preparation of a prioritized product backlog, any associated alignment with partners (such as product managers and/or other GPOs) and materials required to communicate backlog and its intent during the session.
  • Participation in Product PI planning. Includes support with story and task definition, clarifications around backlog content, communication of backlog intent and support for story estimates and sequencing. Support team in resolving PI objectives and sets priorities in regards to product backlog.
  • Maintain the backlog throughout PIs. Using input from team members (product manager, product architect, delivery teams, customers/solution teams) to resolve content and priorities, GPO builds, edits and maintains the backlog of the product. The GPO is the ‘go to’ specialist for the product backlog content.
  • Recurring PI activities. Assign backlog activities to sprints, support demo creation and delivery for sprint retrospectives, lead any changing cross dependencies with partners and maintain regular communications with important team members (weekly syncs).
  • Own content authority for product backlog. The GPO ensures the vital features, stories, non-functional requirements, high level design artifacts and acceptance criteria are available to provide the development teams with a clear product requirement.
  • Support Global Product Manager with development of product collaterals

 

Competence Requirements General:

 

  • Good communication skills
  • Experience in agile project management activities to structure workload
  • High degree of analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Systematic and focused approach to work and focus on detail
  • Preparedness to provide accurate and clear information in response to a request
  • Dedication to quality and standards
  • Ability to work in isolation with determination and motivation
  • Perform well under pressure and be conclusive

 

Technical Minimum:

 

  • Excellent knowledge and experience with core AWS services (compute, storage, network, containers, etc)
  • AWS Foundational (Cloud Practitioner) certification
  • 1+ year of working with AWS and Agile development
  • Understanding of solution cost and pricing modelling

 

Preferred:

 

  • Solid understanding of AWS services (Analytics, IoT, Mobile, FaaS)
  • Good understanding of Agile SAFe development
  • AWS Associate or Professional Certification
  • Any AWS Speciality Certifications
  • 3+ years’ experience with AWS solutions
  • SAFe Portfolio certified General
  • Strong skills in the use of O365 products
  • Familiarity with Atlassian JIRA and GitHub tools
  • Awareness of applicable Atos standards, tools and ways of working Ability to provide authoritative advice on Product Ownership.

 

Desired Qualifications:

 

  • Educated to degree level and/or significant experience in field
  • Relevant vendor certifications appropriate to product
