The opportunity

We are looking for an experienced, forward-thinking person with proven collaborative and leadership skills to join our team as a Test Engineer!



  • Requirements analysis: involved in requirement gathering and analysing information, involvement in designing test specifications.

  • Test planning: Input into test plans (e.g. effort estimates), preparing test specifications for the test team to perform, all within a set framework.

  • Test scripting: Writing of Test scripts in preparation for execution phase. Also coding scripts for Automated testing

  • Test execution: in particular acceptance testing and supporting other team members in operational testing duties.

  • Defect management and reporting. Interpreting test results through detailed analysis. Compile relevant information and present findings to Development team / line manager.

  • Mentoring other team members


Skills we can’t do without:

  • Strong collaborative skills and evidence of successfully leading testing assurance teams within a multi-supplier environment.

  • Hands-on knowledge of industry leading test tools, e.g: HP (formerly Mercury) or IBM (Rational).

  • Knowledge of Agile test practices and the role of testing in Agile projects

  • Solid track record of numerous test assignments for business critical systems.

  • Knowledge of test methodologies.

  • A desire to work on a variety of differing assignments.

  • Ability to deliver within given time constraints.

  • Understanding of how software testing fits into the broader business.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • ISEB/ISTQB Foundation Certification in Software Testing – higher levels ideal.

  • Proficient English Language Skills.

  • Evidence of a willingness and ability to learn and quickly adapt to new ways of working. Has incorporated and adapted testing processes to meet changes in requirements and still achieved successful outcomes.


Skills we’d like:

  • Experience of working with large Public Sector Police clients.

  • Experience of test analysis and execution for infrastructure, network/telecommunications and /or 4G testing projects.

  • Certification in ITIL v3.
