The prime project locations are Edinburgh, Newcastle, Leeds, Telford and Worthing. Customer visits to one of the mentioned cities are required to meet the business objectives and fulfil the client expectations.

Atos is growing the capabilities of its UK Public Sector to work with our clients on the digital transformation journey. The role will work as part of a multiple disciplinary team ensuring the accelerated application development across our clients.

Work on exciting products in support of our client’s services that are relevant to every household and business in the UK. It is an opportunity to work with committed and hardworking developers, designers, business analysts and user researchers, etc who share a vision for making better government through smarter use of technology. An interaction designer works out the best way to let users interact with services, in terms of both overall flow and at the level of individual design elements.

SC Cleared or the ability to obtain SC clearance.

Experience of working within multi-functional Agile teams. 

Experience of managing a team of 3-5 Interaction Designers.

- 3-4 years’ experience in an Interaction Designer role.

- Experience of working within the Government Digital Service (GDS) environment.

- 2-4 years’ experience following and working to GDS standards.

 - Previously worked with Government agencies such as DWP, HMCTS, Home Office etc.

- 3-4 years proven Experience of using the GOV.UK Prototyping Kit.

Required skills:
You will need the following skills for this role, although the level of expertise for each will vary, depending on the role level.

-  Agile working. Understand agile methodology and can apply an agile approach to all aspects of your work. You can work in a fast-paced, evolving environment and use an iterative method and flexible approach to enable rapid delivery. You are unafraid to take risks, willing to learn from mistakes and appreciate the importance of agile project delivery for digital projects in government.

-  Community collaboration. Able to contribute to the work of the community, building successful teams through understanding team styles and influencing as well as motivating team members. You know how to give and receive constructive feedback, facilitating the feedback loop. You can facilitate conflict resolution within teams, ensure the team is transparent and that the work is understood externally. You can help teams maintain a focus on delivery while being aware of the importance of professional development.

-  Digital perspective. Understand how the digital economy is changing user behaviour and the government landscape. Have ability to make informed decisions based on user needs, available technology and value for money. You know about the wider digital economy and advances in technology.

-  Evidence- and context-based design. Visualise, articulate and solve complex problems and concepts, and make disciplined decisions on the basis of available information and research evidence. Able to move from analysis to synthesis and/or design intent. Such skills include: demonstration of the ability to apply logical thinking, gathering and analysing information and evidencing key performance indicators.

-  Experience working within constraints. Have an understanding and can work within given constraints (including but not limited to technology and policy, and regulatory, financial and legal constraints).

-  Prototyping in code. Ability to understand the limitations of internet technology and why code is important. Able to prototype a code, but you don’t need to make production-ready code. Capable of applying technical knowledge and experience to create or design workable prototypes, both programs and physical outputs.

-  User focus. Able to understand users and can identify who they are and what their needs are, based on evidence. Able to translate user stories and propose design approaches or services to meet these needs. Keen to engage in meaningful interactions and relationships with users. You put users first and can handle competing priorities.
