The main project locations for these roles are Edinburgh, Newcastle, Leeds, Telford and Worthing. Customer visits to one of the above-mentioned locations are required and your role will include a mixture of remote working, working from our client’s offices and working from customer offices.

 

£27 000 - £45 000, including superb benefits, 25 days holiday, bonuses, private medical, private accident insurance and share scheme.


The opportunity
We are looking for a motivated and forward-thinking Content Designer to join our team!

Content designers make things easier for people to understand and use. This can involve working on a single piece of content or on the end-to-end journey of a service to help users complete their goal and government deliver a policy intent.


Responsibilities:
-  Support the Senior Content designer and assist with the content quality, and mentor more Junior content colleagues.

-  Write and map user stories.

-  Review the work of others to assure quality lead on cross-government content projects and engage with/contribute to cross-government content community.

-  Work closely with :- Interaction Designers, User Researchers, Developers


Requirements:
-  Previously worked in Agile/scrum teams.

-  At least 3 years’ experience in similar role.

-  Experience of working within the Government Digital Service (GDS) environment.

-  2 years experience following and working to GDS standards.

-  Previously worked with Government agencies such as DWP, HMCTS, Home Office etc.

-  Experience in writing content using HTML and good understanding of accessibility standards.

Note: All applicants must be either UK citizens or have lived in the UK for 5 years because Security Clearance eligibility is a must.


Skills and experience we can't do without:
-  Agile working. Understand the agile methodology and can apply an agile approach to all aspects of your work. You can work in a fast-paced, evolving environment and use an iterative method and flexible approach to enable rapid delivery.

-  Content concepts and prototyping. You are able to visualise your work in context to show partners any changes or proposals you’ve made. You know when to choose the most appropriate methods for different audiences and purposes, ranging from paper sketches to coded prototypes.

-  Partner relationship management. Knowing how to identify, analyse, handle and manage relationships with and between partners. You can engage with partners clearly and regularly, clarifying mutual needs and commitments through consultation and consideration of impacts while focusing on user needs.

-  Critical thinking. Able to take an overall perspective on business issues, events, activities and discuss their wider implications and long-term impact. This could include determining patterns, standards, policies, roadmaps and vision statements. You know how to focus on outcomes rather than solutions and activities.

-  User focus. You understand users and can identify who they're and what their needs are based on evidence. You can formulate hypotheses, gain insights from data and user research and use those insights and findings for informed decisions. You are comfortable evaluating quantitative and qualitative data. You can translate user stories and propose design approaches or services to meet these needs.

-  User-centered content design. Able to design content to meet user needs and make complex language and processes easy to understand. You are comfortable using data and evidence to make informed decisions about content. You have experience of writing, editing and publishing user-centered content for digital audiences. Able to review and evaluate content to improve it.
