Patient Account Representative

Job Description:



Atos is currently seeking Healthcare Accounts Receivable Representatives to remotely perform third party account collection and resolution for our healthcare provider clients, primarily hospitals. You will be part of our Patient Financial Services team servicing facilities nationwide.   Desired candidate must have 2+ years working in a healthcare receivables environment such as a hospital business office or physician office or similar environment. Candidate must possess critical thinking skills, have the ability to prioritize effectively and efficiently, have advanced communication skills, and be able to problem solve.  Must be able to work independently with a high degree of discipline. Familiar with and able to utilize various Electronic Health Record software.  Intermediate skills in MS Outlook, Word, Excel. 


To provide timely and accurate account resolution on business assigned to us by our clients. Patient Account Rep I reviews and resolves issues in order to collect payment from third-party on patient accounts which in turn will positively impact the client’s AR. Role holders experience and specific knowledge of hospital AR will help resolve accounts in an efficient manner.


  • Communicate with appropriate party (insurance company, attorney, place of employment, insured, etc.) for prompt account resolution.
  • Accurately document accounts with correct information received and take appropriate system action.
  • Inform Team Supervisor of any payor or other issues effecting collections.
  • Audit assigned work to assure accounts are addressed timely.
  • Identify trends found during follow up process.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to speak, read, and write fluent, grammatically correct English, at a level suitable for communicating with the contacts for this position. 
  • 1 or more years of healthcare receivables, customer service, or accounting experience preferred
  • Must have excellent communication, customer service and organizational skills, using standard current Windows applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Must have basic Excel skills and be comfortable working with spreadsheets 
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions. 
  • With minimal supervision, demonstrate the ability to solve practical problems, interpret, resolving problems and issues using a variety of instructions or guides furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision. 
  • Must be able to work well under pressure and to work within short deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of third party payers, billing requirements, medical terminology, and EHR system applications preferred
