Senior AIX System Administrator who will be working with a global team of individuals in supporting a large, multi-client AIX environment.

Provide Tier 2 and 3 Operational support for AIX systems.

Provide technical analysis and design consulting support for major business applications.

Managing project and task deliverable commitments, system changes and application rollouts / upgrades.


The individual should have hands-on experience working within an enterprise wide datacenter environment with various infrastructure management products, including but not limited to:

• Advanced AIX PowerVM System Administration

• Heavy use of scripting and automation tools

• AIX Clustering (PowerHA) and SAN usage

• Enterprise backup agents (TSM, NetBackup, etc.)

• Incident, Problem and RCA management

• Change, Configuration and Asset management

• OS Patch management • Participation in Audits

• Project reporting

• Customer communication

• Rollout of applications and OS upgrades

• Build and configuration of virtual and physical servers

• Documentation and diligent following of server build processes

• Maintenance of the operating systems and hardware

• Troubleshooting OS and hardware problems for remote servers

• Escalation Support

• Vendor escalation The individual must be able lead the analysis into situations and problems to determine how to resolve problems and the root cause of these problems.


The individual will also be responsible for following change control procedures to plan/test/implement Infrastructure changes in coordination with business owners. The individual will be expected to work with documentation to acquire the necessary know-how specific to supporting this AIX environment and related deliverables.

• 6 to 10 years of relevant AIX System Admin experience.

• Day to day, hands on AIX Operating System experience in a large enterprise (datacenter) environment.

• Extensive knowledge in installation / configuration / support of NIM, IVM, HMC and server build automation.

• Experience with performance and capacity monitoring and management and tuning tools, installation, configuration, problem determination, system recovery and AIX security. • Experience writing and debugging shell scripts in a standard UNIX shell.

• Advanced knowledge of AIX clustering (PowerHA), virtualization (PowerVM), network server installation and deployment (NIM) and LVM and filesystem management.

• Excellent communication skills, convincing skill & client management (both internal & external).

• Ability to interview staff to capture existing processes and work with documentation to familiarize and enable self to support new and unfamiliar AIX environment.

• Working experience with ITIL processes.

• Experience with large numbers of Oracle ASM LUNs served from an EMC Enterprise SAN is a plus.

• Experience with conducting DR exercises.

• Maintenance of the operating systems and hardware.

• Experience with GPFS.

• Ability to review Security related vulnerability reports and asses applicability to environment and engineer / execute deployment of remediation in a large environment.

• Ability to troubleshoot OS and Hardware issues and track from incident detection through Resolution (including Vendor escalations).

• Excellent TCP/IP Networking skills

• Flexible, adaptable, and able to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, high-pressure, fast-paced environment

• Strengths in Automation/Scripting is a plus

• Project Management skill levels sufficient for the understanding and implementation of within-team and cross-functional projects • Proven troubleshooting skills and ability to understand complex relationships between components of multi-tiered applications and systems.

• Self-driven and be able to work independently with minimal supervision

• Experience in a user-focused technical-support environment
